Question: What is the recommended total distributor advance? Answer: Total advance is recommended to be no more than 30-32 degrees. You'll need a timing light and a degree ring on your pulley to do this accurately. The less than accurate way, would be to get a protractor, and hold it up to the pulley, and mark off 30 degrees.
